GRANTHAM, Pa. – Sophomore right-hander Kristy Rubino (Parsippany, N.J./Parsippany) threw a four-hit shutout in game one, and Gettysburg smacked seven doubles in a doubleheader split in non-conference action against Messiah at Starry Field on Wednesday afternoon. The Bullets took game one, 6-0, before dropping the finale, 12-6.

Junior Heather Sagaities (Hollidaysburg, Pa./Hollidaysburg) led the Gettysburg (10-6) offense, going 3-for-6 with two RBI and two runs scored. She had two of the Bullets' seven two-baggers in the twin bill. Sophomore second baseman Jessica Wallick (Chambersburg, Pa./Chambersburg) also had three hits, and junior catcher Abbe Miller (Spring City, Pa./Owen J. Roberts) drove in three runs. Rubino gave up just four hits and struck out six in seven innings to improve to 5-3 on the season.

Messiah (15-8) freshman right fielder Megan Rice was 3-for-4 with two runs batted in and three scored. Senior shortstop Jessica DeBoer was 4-for-8 with a double and three runs scored.

The Bullets got all the offense they would need in game one with a single tally in the top of the second. Freshman designated player Sarah Woodbury (Audubon, Pa./Mt. St. Joseph Academy) plated Miller with a two-out single.

Gettysburg tacked on two more in the third on an RBI double by senior right fielder Meg Gorsuch (Mount Airy, Md./South Carroll) and a single by Miller. The visitors then put it out of reach with three in the top of the seventh.

Miller ripped a two-run double with one out in the inning that scored Sagaities and Gorsuch. Sophomore shortstop Nicole Yannotta (Whippany, N.J./Whippany Park) also delivered a run on a double.

Rubino pitched out of a two-out, bases-loaded jam in the bottom of the first inning to allow her team to get the lead. The Falcons also got runners to second base in the third and sixth innings, but they left eight runners on base in the game.

In game two, Messiah scored four runs in each of the first three innings to build a 12-0 lead. Gettysburg roared back with five runs in the top of the fourth to keep the game from ending prematurely, but the Bullets were only able to add one more run in their next three turns.

Wallick was 3-for-4 in the second game with a pair of RBI for Gettysburg. Messiah's DeBoer was also 3-for-4 and scored three times. Rice was 2-for-2 with a pair of free passes. She had three RBI and scored three times.

The Bullets will be back in action on Saturday when they take on Haverford in a Centennial Conference twin bill at Bobby Jones Field. Game one is set for 1 p.m.
