LITTLE FALLS, N.J. – Junior left fielder Leanne Harvey broke a scoreless tie in the sixth with an RBI single and freshman second baseman Meaghan Galvin added a two-run double for insurance in the seventh as No. 3 seed King's (Pa.) eliminated No. 5 seed Gettysburg from the 2007 NCAA Division III Softball Montclair, N.J. Regional Championship, 3-0, in the sixth game of the tournament at the MSU Softball Stadium on Friday afternoon.

Freshman right-hander Lindsay Hoerner tossed a five-hit shutout as the Lady Monarchs (34-8) now advance to the eighth game at 6 p.m. on Friday against Ramapo.

Junior left fielder Heather Sagaities (Hollidaysburg, Pa./Hollidaysburg) was 3-for-3 for Gettysburg (25-15). The Bullets were making just their second appearance in the NCAA Division III Softball Championship and went 1-2 in the tournament.

Hoerner and sophomore right-hander Kristy Rubino (Parsippany, N.J./Parsippany) were locked in a pitcher's duel through the first five innings. King's would break the tie in the sixth as sophomore shortstop Abbey Knoblauch singled with one out. Rubino retired the next hitter, however Harvey doubled to left center to score Knoblauch with the first run of the game.

The Lady Monarchs extended the lead the following inning with two more runs. Sophomore third baseman Becky Loring opened the frame with a single and classmate Julie Bidwell followed with a base hit. Galvin doubled to center after a pop up to drive home both runs.

Gettysburg put together a threat in the bottom of the seventh. Abbe Miller (Spring City, Pa./Owen J. Roberts) singled and Nicole Yannotta (Whippany, N.J./Whippany Park) reached on an error. On the play, Miller tried to advance to third, but senior center fielder Justine Maggio made a perfect throw to third to get Miller for the second out. Hoerner retired the final batter on a ground out to end the game.

Hoerner recorded her second shutout of the season as she improved to 12-2. Rubino took the loss, giving up three runs and seven hits. She fanned seven, walked one and fell to 19-8 on the season.
