WASHINGTON, D.C. – Junior Emily Harwood (Rockville, Md./Magruder) scored the game-winning goal with 3:31 remaining, lifting the Gettysburg College field hockey team to a 2-1 victory over host Catholic University Tuesday afternoon.

Harwood punched in an unassisted tally, her third of the season, as the Bullets improved to 3-1 on the season.

After a scoreless first half, Catholic (1-3) took a 1-0 lead when Kelly Burke assisted Rosemary Dixon with 24:53 left. But with 17:36 on the clock, senior Cristi Farrell (Broomall, Pa./Academy of Notre Dame) buried her second goal of the season, also unassisted, to knot the score at one.

Gettysburg, which was playing its first road game of the season, was out-shot 12-9 for the game and 7-3 in the second half. However, senior goalie Katherine Corkhill (Paoli, Pa./Academy of Notre Dame) made three saves, the second of which gave her 300 for her career.

The Bullets play their Centennial Conference opener on Saturday, when they visit Johns Hopkins University at 1 p.m.
