Streaking Bullets Pick Up Sixth Straight Win in Conference Opener

BRYN MAWR, Pa. – Bryn Mawr College entered its Centennial Conference opener against Gettysburg College with a perfect record of 6-0, but that unblemished start to the season came to a screeching halt for the Owls as the Bullets doused the hosts with a dominating 3-0 victory in women's volleyball action on Thursday, Sept. 13.

Gettysburg (7-2, 1-0 CC), which has never lost to Bryn Mawr (15-0), picked up its sixth consecutive victory on the season by scores of 30-14, 30-22, 30-10. The Bullets dominated net play with 44 kills over the three-game spread, knocking down at least 13 in each, as well as posting 14 total blocks. The squad saved the best for last, posting a season-best attack percentage of .467 in the final game.

Senior Katie Heffner (Easton, Pa./Easton) led the offense with 10 kills, while Stephanie Rickabaugh (West Chester, Pa./Henderson) knocked down nine attacks. Sophomore Kristin Kotewicz (Columbia, Md./River Hill), who normally patrols the back row, and freshman Kate Yoder (Emmaus, Pa./Emmaus) each finished with six kills.

Sophomore setter Amanda Krampf (Gaithersburg, Md./Gaithersburg) paced the attack with 37 assists on the night. She also added four kills, four digs, and tied Heffner and Yoder for the team lead with a pair of service aces.

Defensively, Kristina Mercier (Baltimore, Md./Mount de Sales Academy) contributed a team-best seven digs and added four blocks, while Rickabaugh notched six digs and one block assist. Kotewicz, Heffer, and Katie Potchney (Roselle, N.J./Roselle Catholic) each tallied five digs. Yoder was a force to be reckoned with on the net, posting seven total blocks.

The Bullets take on a pair of non-conference foes in a tri-match on Saturday, Sept. 15, at Saint Vincent College. First, they will battle the hosts at 1 p.m. before finishing the day with Thiel College at 3:30 p.m.
