GETTYSBURG, Pa. – Senior Colleen Stuart (Centennial, Colo./Arapahoe) and sophomore Kelly Vigna (Wyckoff, N.J./Ramapo) each tallied goals as the Gettysburg College women's soccer team had no problem disposing of visiting Franklin & Marshall College on Tuesday night, sending the Diplomats packing with a dominating 2-0 decision in Centennial Conference action at Clark Field.

Gettysburg (3-6-0, 2-1-0 CC) jumped all over Franklin & Marshall (4-3-2, 1-2-0 CC) from the outset as Stuart quickly put the hosts on the board with an unassisted goal at 2:31, sending a low shot from the right just inside the opposite post. It was her second goal this season.

The Bullets maintained the pressure in the first half, firing off nine more shots, four of which had to be stopped by Erin Roy. On the other end of the field, the stifling Gettysburg defense allowed only two shots in the opening stanza.

Leading 1-0 at the break, Gettysburg jumped back on the board with another unassisted goal off the foot of a veteran. This time around, it was Vigna with the touch as the sophomore took a pass at the top of the box, controlled the ball through a pair of F&M defenders, and sent a shot past the keeper into the right side of the net for her first goal of the fall at 60:31.

The Bullet defense anchored by backs Kristen Zielinski (Harrisburg, Pa./Central Dauphin East), Shaina Wright (Gettysburg, Pa./Gettysburg), Tara Gaston (Newtown, Conn./Newtown), and Kelly Burke (Greenwood Village, Colo./St. Mary's Academy) kept the Diplomats out of the scoring column, allowing only a pair of shots in the second half. Both were on target, but junior keeper Danielle St. Pierre (Londonderry, N.H./Trinity) kept the ball out of the back of the net with a pair of saves to pick up her third shutout of the season, and the 10th of her career.

Gettysburg owned the advantage in shots 22-4, blasting 10 at the goal. The Bullets were also the more aggressive of the two squads, committing a 19 fouls to the Diplomats' six. It was the sixth consecutive shutout for Gettysburg against Franklin & Marshall, stretching the Bullets' shutout streak to 565:55 against the team from Lancaster. The Diplomats have not scored a goal against Gettysburg since 2002.

The Bullets will aim to keep their winning ways this weekend with another conference match up at Ursinus College in Collegeville, Pa., on Saturday, Sept. 29. Game time is set for noon.
