Box Score

COLLEGEVILLE, Pa. – The Gettysburg College volleyball team made short work of host Ursinus College on Saturday, Sept. 29, sweeping right by the Bears 30-11, 30-21, 30-11. With the win, the Bullets retained their perfect league record (3-0) and improved to 12-5 overall on the season.

Ursinus (5-10, 1-3 CC) never got on track with their attack, managing to make more errors (22) than kills (21) and hitting a paltry -0.011. Gettysburg was the complete opposite, pounding down 46 kills against just five errors for the whole match. The Bullets finished with a .366 hitting percentage, a number that was lifted by 14 kills with no errors in 22 attempts (.636) in the final game.

Leading the charge offensively was sophomore Kristina Mercier (Baltimore, Md./Mount de Sales Academy) with 11 kills, while senior Katie Heffner (Easton, Pa./Easton), junior Meghan McConville (Eldersburg, Md./Liberty), and sophomore Stephanie Rickabaugh (West Chester, Pa./Henderson) each connected on seven kills with only one error between the trio. Freshman Kate Yoder (Emmaus, Pa./Emmaus) added six kills in 12 attempts.

The defense was solid in the back row, going without a single reception error for the entire match. Sophomore Mekenna Sigai (Baltimore, Md./Notre Dame Prep) put up 13 digs for the second consecutive match and added a pair of service aces. Sophomore Jade Dunhour (Greencastle, Pa./Greencastle-Antrim) and Heffner each tallied eight digs, with the former also notching two aces.

Sophomore setter Amanda Krampf (Gaithersburg, Md./Gaithersburg) kept business as usual, handing out 29 assists and contributing nine digs.

The Bullets continue their conference slate with a much anticipated match at Johns Hopkins University (16-4, 2-1 CC) on Wednesday, Oct. 3. The Blue Jays, who swept Gettysburg in a non-league match on Sept. 22, were handed a 3-0 loss by No. 11 Haverford College on Saturday.
