COLLEGEVILLE, Pa. – After scoring an early goal in its last victory over Franklin & Marshall College, the Gettysburg College women's soccer team had the tables turned as host Ursinus College netted a goal on a deflected cross just over one minute into the teams' Centennial Conference match on Saturday, Sept. 29.

Gettysburg (3-7, 2-2 CC) scored in the third minute in a 2-0 win against Franklin & Marshall earlier in the week, but Ursinus (7-1-1, 4-0-0 CC) kept its league record perfect by capitalizing on an early scoring opportunity. Awarded a corner kick at the one-minute mark, the Bears' Alex Shivers picked up her third goal of the season as the ball was deflected into the Bullet goal.

That early tally would be the only mark in the scoring column as the defenses held firm the rest of the way. Ursinus fired off nine shots total at the Gettysburg goal, but junior Danielle St. Pierre (Londonderry, N.H./Trinity) smothered six would-be goals. The Bullets managed five shots in the contest, including two each by senior Shaina Wright (Gettysburg, Pa./Gettysburg) and freshman Lauren Walsh (Ridgefield, Conn./Ridgefield). Ashley Potter was solid in goal for the Bears, making three saves.

Gettysburg returns home to the friendly confines of Clark Field for a non-conference match against Elizabethtown College on Wednesday, Oct. 3, beginning at 4:30 p.m.
