Box Score
CARLISLE, Pa. – Freshman
Jamie Huffman (Laurel, Md./Reservoir) led the way with a career-high 11 kills as the Gettysburg College volleyball team moved one step closer to securing the top seed for the upcoming Centennial Conference Tournament with a 3-0 decision at Dickinson College on Wednesday night. Scores for the match were 25-20, 25-17, and 26-24 in favor of the Orange & Blue.
With its eighth win in its last nine contests, Gettysburg improved its season mark to 16-10 overall and 8-1 in the conference, maintaining a share of first place with Haverford College (20-6, 8-1 CC). The Bullets have the edge in the tiebreaker with the Fords thanks to a 3-0 victory on Sept. 24 and would host semifinals and finals of the conference tournament slated for Nov. 8-9 if they close the regular season with one more conference victory.
Gettysburg held its fifth-straight opponent to less than a 20 percent attack percentage as Dickinson (10-13, 5-4 CC) managed only 26 kills and 14 errors in 130 attempts (.092). The Bullets, on the other hand, hit above the 20 percent mark for the fifth-straight match led Huffman and sophomore
Kate Yoder (Emmaus, Pa./Emmaus), the latter posting 10 kills in 21 attempts with just two errors (.381 attack percentage). Junior
Kristina Mercier (Baltimore, Md./Mount de Sales Academy) posted eight kills, while senior
Meghan McConville (Eldersburg, Md./Liberty) tallied seven.
Defensively, junior setter
Amanda Krampf (Gaithersburg, Md./Gaithersburg) posted 18 digs and added three kills, 32 assists, and one solo block. Reigning CC Player of the Week
Kristin Kotewicz (Columbia, Md./River Hill) maintained her conference-leading average of almost five digs per set with 17 against Dickinson, while junior Mekanna Sigai (Baltimore, Md./Notre Dame Prep.) and freshman
Rebecca Rubenstein (Bedford Hills, N.Y./Fox Lane) each put up 10 digs.
The only thing standing in Gettysburg's way of clinching the top seed for the Centennial Conference Tournament is the Bullets' regular season finale against Muhlenberg College (17-9, 5-4 CC) scheduled for Saturday, Nov. 1, at 1 p.m. inside Bream Gymnasium.
