GETTYSBURG, Pa. – The Gettysburg College volleyball team was riding a pair of unbeaten streaks heading into its Centennial Conference match up with visiting Ursinus College on Saturday afternoon. Neither of those streaks found an end as the Bullets moved to 4-0 in conference action this fall and 33-0 against the Bears all-time with a 3-0 victory (25-17, 25-13, 25-20) inside Bream Gym.
Gettysburg (11-9, 4-0 CC) put together an all-around effort against Ursinus (4-11, 0-4 CC) with all 14 players in uniform seeing time on the court. Junior
Stephanie Rickabaugh (West Chester, Pa./Henderson), sophomore
Kate Yoder (Emmaus, Pa./Emmaus), and freshman
Rebecca Rubenstein (Bedford Hills, N.Y./Fox Lane) were the only players to play all three sets and were among the team leaders statistically. Rickabaugh paced the team with 10 kills and no errors in 20 attempts, while Yoder posted five kills. Rubenstein had a hand in every aspect of the match with two kills, 12 assists, one ace, and a team-high 13 digs.
Junior setter
Amanda Krampf (Gaithersburg, Md./Gaithersburg) tallied 16 assists and five digs in a pair of sets, while fellow classmate
Kristina Mercier (Baltimore, Md./Mount de Sales Academy) came up with six kills. Freshman
Paige Haber (Sonoma, Calif./Sonoma Valley) posted eight digs in two sets at libero.
Gettysburg will face its stiffest challenge in maintaining its perfect conference record in its next match against fellow unbeaten Johns Hopkins University (14-4, 2-0 CC) on Wednesday, Oct. 8, at 7 p.m. inside Bream Gym. The Blue Jays faced two-time defending Haverford College on Saturday but results were unavailable at the time of this release.
