LANCASTER, Pa. – After generating just two runs and nine hits in a doubleheader loss at Swarthmore College on Sunday, the Gettysburg College bats came alive with 17 runs and 21 hits in a sweep of host Franklin & Marshall College at Baker Campus Field on Tuesday. The Bullets took the opener 7-0 and won game two 10-2 in five innings.

Every Bullet player had a hit in the second game and eight recorded multi-hits over the twinbill. Sophomores Ali Iacobucci (Phoenixville, Pa./Phoenixville) and Sarah Woodbury (Audubon, Pa./Mt. St. Joseph Academy) and junior Jessica Wallick (Chambersburg, Pa./Chambersburg) led the way with three hits and three RBI apiece for Gettysburg, which improved to 13-12 overall and 5-7 in the CC.

The visitors didn't need to manufacture very many runs in the opener at Franklin & Marshall (7-16, 4-7 CC) as junior Kristy Rubino (Parsippany, N.J./Parsippany) picked up her sixth shutout of the season. She hurled seven scoreless innings, allowing only three hits and two walks while striking out three.

Gettysburg jumped on the board in the second inning as Wallick led off with a double and came around to score on a wild pitcher later in the inning. Woodbury tallied an RBI single in the third and junior Erin Ober (Lutherville, Md./Dulaney) came up with the big blast the following inning with a two-run home run, her team-best third of the spring.

The Bullets added three more runs in the seventh, two on a double by Iacobucci to seal the win.

Game two was all Gettysburg as the visitors put a stop to the game in just five innings. Woodbury, Wallick, and Iacobucci all landed RBI singles in the opening at bat as the visitors raced out to a 4-0 lead. Two more runs crossed the plate in the second on a run-scoring triple by senior Abbe Miller (Spring City, Pa./Owen J. Roberts) and an RBI groundout by Woodbury, giving Gettysburg a 6-1 lead.

The Bullets added a run in the fourth and three in their final at bat once again, highlighted by an RBI triple by senior Heather Sagaities (Hollidaysburg, Pa./Hollidaysburg). Sophomore Beth McCullough (Ft. Wayne, Ind./Homestead) earned the victory for Gettysburg with two runs allowed (one earned), five hits, one walk, and five strikeouts.

Iacobucci finished 3-for-6 with a walk, while Woodbury and Wallick each went 3-for-7, the latter scoring three times. Sagaities and Ober each added three hits and three runs scored. Junior Nicole Yannotta (Whippany, N.J./Whippany Park) scored three times on the day, while Miller connected on a double and a triple and scored twice in the nightcap.

The Bullets continue conference play this weekend against Centennial front-runner Ursinus College (21-8, 8-2 CC) on Saturday, April 19. Opening pitch is slated for 1 p.m. from Gettysburg's Bobby Jones Field.
