SALISBURY, Md. – The Gettysburg College women's volleyball team, coming off its biggest win so far this season, ran into a pair of streaking opponents on the first day of the Salisbury Invitational. State University of New York (SUNY) at New Paltz extended its undefeated record to start the season with a 3-0 (25-17, 25-18, 25-23) sweep of the Bullets, while host Salisbury posted its school-record 18th-straight victory as part of its 3-0 (25-21, 25-23, 25-23) victory over the Orange & Blue.

Gettysburg (8-8), which defeated 18th-ranked Haverford College on Wednesday, couldn't build on its recent success against New Paltz as the Hawks finished the opening day with a perfect 16-0 record this season. Freshman Virginia Hogan (Alpharetta, Ga./Chattahoochee) paced the Bullets' attack with seven kills and added seven digs, while junior setter Amanda Krampf (Gaithersburg, Md./Gaithersburg) posted 22 assists. Junior Kristina Mercier (Baltimore, Md./Mount de Sales Academy) and freshman Rebecca Rubenstein (Bedford Hills, N.Y./Fox Lane) each posted 10 digs to lead the defensive effort.

Salisbury (18-1) has not dropped a match since its season opener against No. 1 Juniata College and the Sea Gulls added to their win total with a pair of 3-0 victories over Susquehanna and Gettysburg on Friday. Sophomore Kate Yoder (Emmaus, Pa./Emmaus) tallied eight kills for the Bullets, while Hogan and senior Meghan McConville (Eldersburg, Md./Liberty) each totaled seven kills. Krampf dished out 25 assists and put up eight digs and junior libero Kristin Kotewicz (Columbia, Md./River Hill) led the team with 19 digs.

Gettysburg continues play at Salisbury on Saturday (Sept. 27) against a pair of foes. The Bullets open the morning against Susquehanna University (15-6) at 10 a.m. before closing the day against Catholic University (6-13) at 2 p.m.
