GETTYSBURG, Pa. – Johns Hopkins University held Gettysburg College to a season-low 25 percent shooting and out-rebounded the hosts by nine to secure a 64-45 decision in Centennial Conference women's basketball action from Bream Gym on Tuesday (Feb. 10) night.

With the victory, Johns Hopkins (12-10, 10-5 CC) moved into sole possession of second place in the conference standings, while Gettysburg (12-10, 9-6 CC) dropped out of second into a three-way tie for fourth with Dickinson College (12-10, 9-6 CC) an d Franklin & Marshall College (12-10, 9-6 CC).

The Bullets, whose previous lowest point total this season was in a 62-50 loss to Hopkins on Jan. 13, fell behind 10-4 on Tuesday night after the visitors rattled off seven consecutive points. Gettysburg persevered through the opening minutes and reversed the advantage, taking a 13-12 lead on a putback by freshman Sara Kinsley (Fairfield, Conn./Fairfield Ludlowe) at the 11-minute mark of the first half. That would be the host's final lead of the contest as Hopkins went on a 24-7 run to close the opening period and entered the break with a 36-20 cushion.

Gettysburg started the second half with quick back-to-back buckets by Lauren Dadigan (Mechanicsburg, Pa./Cumberland Valley) and Courtney Fields (Baltimore, Md./St. Paul's School for Girls), but Johns Hopkins had a pair of answers in Kristin Phillips and Lyndsay Burton, who combined for each of the Blue Jays' first eight points of the final period, helping their team to a 15-point lead (46-31) with 14:05 to play.

The Bullets whittled the deficit down to nine four times in the latter stages of the second period, only to have the Blue Jays come right back with a bucket to boost the margin back to double figures. Gettysburg pulled to 52-43 on a pair of free throws by freshman Julie McGrory (Moorestown, N.J./Moorestown) at 3:43, but Caitlin Sloane tossed in the final dagger with a three-pointer as the shot clock expired 30 seconds later. Hopkins ended the contest on a 10-0 run, while Gettysburg came up empty on its final eight field goal attempts.

Gettysburg was held to just 16-of-64 shooting from the field, including 0-for-8 from three-point land, marking its first contest without a three-pointer since Nov. 20, 2005. Johns Hopkins, the conference's leader in rebounding and rebounding margin, out-rebounded the hosts 44-35.

Sophomore Caitlin Moser (Wyomissing, Pa./Wyomissing) led Gettysburg with a dozen points, eight rebounds, and three assists. Spicer tallied 11 points and four rebounds, while Kinsley finished with seven points and eight boards. Fields led the Bullets defensive effort with six steals.

Burton and Phillips each notched double-doubles for the second time this season against Gettysburg. Burton finished 8-of-12 from the floor for a game-high 20 points and added a dozen boards, four assists, four blocks, and four steals. Phillips put in 10 points and grabbed a game-high 14 rebounds, while Sloane added a dozen points for the Blue Jays.

Gettysburg faces another conference playoff contender this weekend in seventh-place Swarthmore College (11-11, 8-7 CC) on Saturday, Feb. 14, at 2 p.m. The Bullets beat the Garnet 87-56 in their first meeting on Jan. 15.
