Alyssa Oursler each posted a double-double and the Gettysburg College women's basketball team used a solid defensive effort to beat Ursinus College 60-49 in Centennial Conference play Thursday evening in Bream Gymnasium.
Gettysburg (6-8, 4-5 CC) held the Bears to 25.9 percent shooting, including a 19.2 percent mark in the second half. The Bullets also outrebounded Ursinus 57-25.
Kinsley finished with 12 points and 11 rebounds for her sixth career double-double and her fourth of the season. She also added to her school-record career blocked shot total with five swats.
Oursler notched her second career double-double and first this season, totaling 10 points and 11 boards, including eight on the offensive glass. Sophomore guard
Alyssa Isler also scored in double figures with 12 points.
Senior forward Lindsay Teuber led Ursinus (6-8, 5-4 CC) with 13 points, eight rebounds, and four steals while sophomore guard Diamond Lewis and senior guard Kristy George scored 10 points each.
The Bullets never trailed by more than four and took the lead for good with a 9-1 run late in the first half. A lay-up from freshman forward
Sam Pagel with 1:13 left in the half gave the Bullets their largest lead of the night up to that point and a 34-26 advantage at the break.
Gettysburg, which outrebounded Ursinus 24-7 in the opening stanza, saw its lead dwindle to one with 14:26 left after a 7-0 Bear spurt, but sophomore guard
Cori Younghans answered with a big 3-pointer. Ursinus trailed just 50-43 with 5:36 left before the Bullets pulled away with a 7-0 run.
The Bullets pick up their schedule on Saturday, when they visit Centennial Conference front-runner and undefeated Muhlenberg College at 2 p.m.
