Women's Hoops Wins Fifth Straight

Team Goes Over .500 for First Time This Season

HAVERFORD, Pa. – Junior Alyssa Oursler tallied 16 points, and senior Sara Kinsley posted nine points and 11 rebounds to lead the Gettysburg College women's basketball team to a 52-42 victory in a Centennial Conference match-up at Gooding Arena Saturday afternoon.

The Bullets (9-8, 7-5 CC) improved their win streak to five games and went over .500 for the first time this season. Gettysburg took the lead for good when Oursler made a 3-pointer with 15:17 to go in the first half to put the Bullets up 8-6.

Sophomore guard Katie Earley and sophomore forward Caroline Murphy each recorded eight points and seven rebounds for the Bullets, and senior forward Lauren Dadigan and sophomore guard Cori Younghans contributed five points apiece.

Jacquelyne Pizzuto tallied 10 points for Haverford (12-5, 7-5 CC), and Dominique Meeks and Elizabeth Lynch each added seven.

Gettysburg outrebounded Haverford 46-30, marking the fifth game in a row and the ninth time in the last 10 outings that it finished with the advantage on the glass.

The Bullets, who entered the game ranked seventh in Division III in field-goal percentage defense (30.5), held Haverford to 26.4 percent shooting, marking their sixth-straight game of holding the opponent to under 40 percent shooting.

Kinsley converted three consecutive lay-ups in under two and a half minutes bridging halftime to give Gettysburg its first double-digit lead at 26-16 just three seconds into the final period.

The Bullets' lead hit 14 three times, the first of which came on an Oursler jumper with 18:42 remaining that pushed the score to 30-16. Haverford did not cut the lead to less than nine points from there.

The Bullets return to the hardwood on Wednesday, when they visit Dickinson College in a Centennial Conference game starting at 6 p.m.
