GETTYSBURG, Pa. – Senior
Hannah Church and sophomore
Loren Pruitt combined for 11 goals as the top-ranked Gettysburg College women's lacrosse team got back in the win column with a 16-8 victory over Swarthmore College at Clark Field on Saturday.
Gettysburg (8-1, 4-0 CC), which dropped a 17-15 decision at The College of New Jersey last night, showed no signs of weariness in racing past Swarthmore (7-3, 2-2 CC) in the opening half. After the Garnet tied the game 2-2 on a goal by Corinne Sommi, the Bullets ran off the next eight goals with Church and Pruitt accounting for the final three.

Church and Pruitt continued their target practice to start the final period with the senior tossing in the first goal a minute in and the sophomore connecting on back-to-back scores to make it 14-3 with 24:55 to play. Swarthmore tallied five of the final seven goals, including two by Marie Mutryn.
Pruitt finished with a career-high six goals and Church tossed in five to go with one assist. Sophomore
Katie Blumenthal added one goal and two assists, all in the first half of play.

Hayward Sawers notched one caused turnover and five ground balls.
Annalise Penikis led Swarthmore with two goals and two assists. Sommi and Mutryn each tallied a pair of scores, the former adding one assist and three ground balls.

Carol Cantele '83 moved one win away from reaching 300 career victories. She will have an opportunity to become just the seventh women's lacrosse coach from all divisions of the NCAA to reach the milestone on Wednesday, April 4, when the Bullets host McDaniel College at 7 p.m.
