GETTYSBURG, Pa. – Gettysburg and Franklin & Marshall each maintained their respective ranks in the latest national poll released by the Intercollegiate Women's Lacrosse Coaches Association (IWLCA) heading into Wednesday's regular-season meeting.
Gettysburg (12-1) stayed firm at No. 4, while Franklin & Marshall (12-2) sat three spots back at No. 7. Salisbury University (15-0) was the unanimous pick at the top position, receiving all 20 first-place votes and 400 total points. SUNY Cortland (11-1) and Trinity (Conn.) College (11-0) ranked second and third, respectively, while The College of New Jersey (11-3) and Middlebury College (9-1) swapped positions at five and six.
Wednesday's match up between the Bullets and Diplomats will decide which school will host the 2012 Centennial Conference Tournament scheduled for April 28-29. The two rivals have combined to host each of the last nine conference tournaments. Franklin & Marshall has won five consecutive Centennial titles and has defeated Gettysburg in 10 of the last 11 meetings. Despite losing both contests to the Diplomats last season, the Bullets marched to the program's first NCAA Division III championship.
The two teams will enter the draw circle at 7 p.m. on Gettysburg's Clark Field.
