2012-13 Bullets Athletics in Review Gallery
The past year witnessed another outstanding performance by Gettysburg College in the realm of athletics. The Bullets competed at a high level, both on the field and in the classroom, and the bar has been raised once again for future competition.
Gettysburg turned in its best year of conference competition in a decade as the Bullets claimed five Centennial Conference championships. The women's basketball team won its first conference title, while women's golf, women's lacrosse, and both swimming programs padded their program accomplishments. The women's golf team won its third consecutive Centennial crown and fourth in the last six seasons, while the women's lacrosse team captured its league-record eighth title. Both men's and women's swimming teams swept the titles for the third-straight year with the men claiming trophy No. 11 and the women picking up No. 14.
Gettysburg trailed only Johns Hopkins University in the number of conference team championships won this season. The Bullets now own a conference-record 95 conference trophies.
The Orange and Blue shined on the national stage as well. Five programs were represented in the “Big Dance” - women's basketball, women's lacrosse, men's swimming, women's indoor track and field, and wrestling.
Individually, the Bullets raked in the awards, including 94 All-Centennial Conference certificates. Thirty-one of those were first team honorees.
Kara McNulty '14 was Gettysburg's lone CC Player of the Year, but the department collected a number of other major awards from the conference. Five members of the coaching staff were tabbed Coach of the Year, while seven Bullets were lauded as Rookie of the Year.
Outside of the conference, Gettysburg picked up 19 all-region awards spread across seven sports. Ten Bullets were named All-Americans, including six members of the men's swimming team alone.
Gettysburg student-athletes shined in the classroom as well. Out of 581 student-athletes, 311 finished with cumulative GPAs at or above 3.0, including four with a perfect 4.0. Eighty-one Bullets were named to the Centennial Conference Academic Honor Roll and four were named Academic All-District.
Andrew Bellis '14 became the department's 20th Academic All-America, earning third-team status in men's soccer.
