WESTMINSTER, Md. – The Gettysburg College women's basketball team closed the regular season with a 67-38 loss at McDaniel College inside the Gill Center Saturday afternoon.
Gettysburg (15-9, 10-8 CC) scored five of the first seven points of the game to take the early lead, but McDaniel (19-5, 14-4 CC) recovered with an 11-1 run to take a 13-6 advantage midway through the opening period.
The Bullets tried to gain some momentum heading into the break, cutting the deficit to five (29-24) on a three-pointer by senior
Katie Earley (Mechanicsburg, Pa./Trinity) with 35 seconds left only to see the hosts pour in five points in the final eight seconds, including a three-pointer by Steph Perez at the buzzer.
McDaniel blew the game open with a 17-2 run in the final stanza to jump ahead 60-33 with less than six minutes remaining. The stingy Green Terror defense held the Bullets to 1-of-17 from the field during the run.
McDaniel held Gettysburg to 14-of-52 from the floor (26.9 percent) and forced the Bullets into 24 turnovers. The Green Terror scored 24 points off those miscues.
Seniors
Alyssa Isler (New Hope, Pa./New Hope-Solebury) and
Cari McMaster (Spring Grove, Pa./Spring Grove) each tallied seven points for Gettysburg.
Perez led the Green Terror with 14 points and Emilee Bosley added 11 points and 10 rebounds.
Gettysburg will travel to Muhlenberg College for the first round of the Centennial Conference Tournament on Wednesday, Feb. 26. Game time will be announced on Monday.
