Box Score GETTYSBURG, Pa. – Junior
Shannon Keeler (Moorestown, N.J./Moorestown) recorded 10 saves to lead sixth-ranked Gettysburg College past No. 20 Dickinson College in Centennial Conference women's lacrosse action at Clark Field.
Gettysburg (9-1, 3-0 CC) built a 5-0 lead as Keeler picked up five saves in the first half, including three on free-position shots. She stopped a low shot by Maddy Siebold off a free position 72 seconds into the game and the Bullets came right back on the offensive end with the game's first score by senior
Abby Baigelman (Larchmont, N.Y./Mamaroneck).
After three more goals by the hosts, another save by Keeler on a free-position attempt by Jennifer Morrissey led to an unassisted score by sophomore
Katie Landry (Hingham, Mass./Hingham) to make it 5-0 with 6:07 left in the first half.
The Bullets opened up an 8-1 lead with the first three tallies of the final stanza, including free-position goals by Landry and senior
Amanda Borucki (Westminster, Md./North Carroll).
Dickinson (5-4, 2-1 CC), which staged second-half rallies to win its last two outings against No. 14 Messiah College and Ursinus College, rattled off four of the next five goals. After Maddy Siebold scored at 16:35, Caroline Clancy found Morrissey 31 seconds later to cut the deficit to 9-5.
The Red Devils looked to cut the margin to three, but once again Keeler stood tall in the cage, knocking away a free-position shot by Sam Marmo. Dickinson came up with the possession only to have sophomore
Cassie Smith (Phoenix, Md./St. Paul's School for Girls) knock the ball loose. The defensive stop led to a nice feed from Connolly to sophomore
Katie Willis (Baltimore, Md./Notre Dame Prep) in front of the cage to put the score at 10-5 with 10:55 left.
Keeler made her final stop with 1:32 remaining and Borucki polished off the win with a free-position goal with 29 seconds left.
Gettysburg turned in its best shooting performance of the season with 11 goals on just 16 attempts. Dickinson won 12-of-19 draws and finished 15-of-15 on clear attempts. The Red Devils finished just 1-of-7 on free positions shot, while the Bullets connected on all three of their free position attempts.
Landry posted three goals, while Connolly and Borucki each tallied two goals and one assist. Connolly came up with four draw controls. Smith finished with two caused turnovers and senior
