Maggie Connolly (Winchester, Mass./Winchester) and sophomore
Katie Landry (Hingham, Mass./Hingham) each scored a pair of goals as fifth-ranked Gettysburg College out-scored Washington College 6-1 in the second half on the way to a 10-4 decision in the semifinals of the Centennial Conference Championship at Tylus Field on the campus of Franklin & Marshall College.
Gettysburg (15-2) advances to the championship game for the 16th-straight season. The Bullets draw defending champion and fourth-ranked Franklin & Marshall (18-1), which defeated Dickinson College 13-6, in the finale. The Bullets and Diplomats have combined to win each of the last 14 conference titles.
Gettysburg was in for a battle early against Washington (11-7). Haylee Solomon kept the Bullets off the board with four saves in the opening 5:34. The defensive stance helped Washington post the game's first goal by Katherine Vincent at 23:04.
The Bullets struck back quickly, winning the ensuing draw control and picking up a tally by senior
Emily Tropsa (Darien, Conn./Darien) 29 seconds later.
After trading goals, a pair of saves by junior
Shannon Keeler (Moorestown, N.J./Moorestown) maintained the deadlock with just over 17 minutes to play. Senior
Abby Baigelman (Larchmont, N.Y./Mamaroneck) put Gettysburg ahead 3-2 at 13:01.
Despite picking up a yellow card and playing down a player, Washington tied the game 3-3 on a goal by Carley Kendall with 11:12 left in the first half.
Gettysburg denied the Shorewomen another goal for the remainder of the period, forcing four turnovers and getting another save by Keeler. The Bullets carried momentum into the break as sophomore
Maggie Welsh (Rye, N.Y./Holy Child) put the team ahead 4-3 with 2:51 on the clock.
The run continued at the start of the final period of play with Connolly and junior
Emma Christie (Cos Cob, Conn./Greenwich) tossing in goals. Washington broke up the run with a goal by Vincent at 28:36, but that would be the last score for the Shorewomen.
Gettysburg won the next draw and Connolly scored 25 seconds later. It was the start of a dominating end-of-game run for the Bullets. Over the game's final 30 minutes, Gettysburg held possession of the ball for nearly 25 minutes. Each of Washington's seven second-half possessions lasted less than 60 seconds.
Landry tossed in a pair of goals before sophomore
Katie Willis (Westminster, Md./Notre Dame Prep) slammed home the final tally on a nice feed from Connolly with 5:48 to play.
Gettysburg held a 35-10 lead in shots, including 17-3 in the second period. The Bullets also scooped up more ground balls (15-10) and tied a season low with seven turnovers.

Freshman
Brooke Holechek (Reisterstown, Md./Notre Dame Prep) logged three caused turnovers and a ground ball. Keeler finished with four saves.
Vincent led Washington with a pair of goals. Solomon posted 14 saves.
Gettysburg and Franklin & Marshall meet in the title game for the fourth consecutive season. The Diplomats won last year's meeting 8-6 and took this spring's regular-season contest 16-11. Sunday's title game is set to begin at 4 p.m.
