Box Score

GETTYSBURG, Pa.The Gettysburg College women's basketball team posted its best shooting effort in nearly three decades on the way to a 63-50 victory over McDaniel College Wednesday night inside Bream Gym.

Gettysburg (11-4, 7-3 CC) torched the nets for a 59.5 shooting percentage, connecting on 24-of-42 attempts from the floor. That rate was the best for the team since hitting 61.7 percent against Albright College on Feb. 19, 1988.

Junior Kendra Meredith (Boyds, Md./Northwest) led the way by hitting all five of her shots on the way to a season-high 16 points. Junior Emily Gibbons (Annapolis, Md./Severn School) posted her Centennial Conference-leading 11th double-double of the campaign with 12 points and 12 rebounds.

Karli Zeps paced McDaniel (7-8, 5-5 CC) with 13 points and six rebounds. Alyssa March added 12 points for the Green Terror.

The Bullets were dialed in from the outset, knocking down 8-of-12 attempts in the first quarter. Freshman Ashley Gehrin (Chester, N.J./West Morris Mendham) dropped in the period's final five points to give Gettysburg a 19-12 lead.

The Green Terror pulled to 21-17 on a lay-up by Zeps with 6:36 to go in the second quarter. Meredith led the charge for the Bullets heading into the break, scoring each of the next nine points to push the lead to 30-17.

Gettysburg's lead dwindled to five following a lay-up by Zeps which made it 41-36 late in the third period. The visitors would draw no closer as sophomore Emma Dorshimer (Jenkintown, Pa./Jenkintown) knocked down a jumper just inside the arc to kick off an 8-0 run to end the frame.

An old-fashioned three-point play by Gibbons boosted the host's lead to a game-high 18 (58-40) with 5:36 remaining in the game.

Gibbons and Meredith combined for nine assists and accounted for Gettysburg's entire 9-of-11 performance at the free throw line. Dorshimer finished with 10 points and seven rebounds, while Gehrin added nine tallies off the bench.

Gettysburg hosts Washington College Saturday at 1 p.m.
