GETTYSBURG, Pa. – The Gettysburg College women's basketball team will head south before the holidays to participate in the Third Annual HoopMIA D3 Holiday Shootout held on the campus of Barry University in Miami, Fla., on Dec. 19-20.
OPENING TIP-OFF
Gettysburg (7-1, 5-0 CC) will try its hand against a pair of New York teams in Miami. The Bullets open against Skidmore College (4-3, 2-0 LL) on Tuesday, Dec. 19, at 4 p.m. The Thoroughbreds have won four of their last five games and take on Barry on Monday. Gettysburg caps the event against Alfred University (1-5, 0-0 E8) on Wednesday, Dec. 20, at 4 p.m. The Saxons have dropped three in a row and play Thiel College on Tuesday. The Orange and Blue have not faced Skidmore or Alfred prior to this season.

SCOUTING SKIDMORE
Skidmore has logged winning records in each of its last three seasons and won the Liberty League regular season title last year. After dropping the first two games this season, the Thoroughbreds have pulled off wins in four of its last five. All five of those games have been decided by 10 points or less. Kelly Donnelly dropped in 27 points to pace the team. Donnelly is a two-time WBCA All-American and is averaging 19.6 points and 7.3 rebounds per game this season. Senior
Veronica Moceri is second on the team with 9.2 points per game and senior
Caite Opfer is averaging eight points and five boards.
Darren Bennett is in his 14th season as head coach at Skidmore. Bennett has managed a record of 179-159 and has guided the Thoroughbreds to a pair of Liberty League regular season titles.
SCOUTING ALFRED
Alfred heads to Miami looking to end a three-game losing streak. The team's last victory was a 73-69 decision over SUNY Fredonia on Nov. 21. Since then, the Saxons have lost their last three outings by an average of 33.7 points per game. Alfred dropped an 82-54 decision to La Roche College on Dec. 7. Sophomore
Jamie Wilcox led the team with a dozen points and three steals. Wilcox has scored in double-figures four times, including 32 against Hamilton College. She leads the team with 16.3 points per game. Sophomore

SEASON SO FAR
Only a non-conference loss at Elizabethtown College on Dec. 4 has marred the Bullets' season so far. The team is 5-0 in Centennial Conference play and is coming off a pair of 30-point blowouts over Dickinson College (85-52) and Bryn Mawr College (65-31). Emily Gibbons (Annapolis, Md./Severn School) is averaging a double-double with 14.5 points and 12.3 rebounds per game. Gibbons paces the league in rebounding and in field goal percentage (61.5). Junior
Emma Dorshimer (Jenkintown, Pa./Jenkintown) and sophomore
Ashley Gehrin (Chester, N.J./West Morris Mendham) are both averaging double-figures at 12 and 10.4 points per game, respectively. Gehrin has scored in double-figures in each of her last four games, including a career-high 22 against Bryn Mawr. Dorshimer enters the week just 67 point shy of 1,000 for her career.
