GETTYSBURG, Pa. – The Gettysburg College men's tennis team defeated non-conference opponent York College (Pa.) in a thrilling 5-4 match on Wednesday evening to close its fall campaign.
 
Senior's Nick D'Amore (Scotch Plains, N.J./Wardlaw-Hartridge) and Kevin Maier (Alpharetta, Ga./Milton) won the top flight in doubles play for Gettysburg, 8-1, but York came through on flights two and three to take an early lead.
 
The Spartans continued with victories at the No. 1 and No. 2 in singles play, but the Bullets soared as they defeated York at No. 3, No. 4, No. 5, and No. 6. Junior Mike Mills (Cape Elizabeth, Maine/Cape Elizabeth) grabbed the win at No. 3 against Joel Hess (6-0, 6-1), senior Andrew Corwin (Medford, N.J./Shawnee) claimed No. 4 (6-2, 6-3) against Lukas Olson, sophomore Tommy Gilio (New Canaan, Conn./New Canaan) tallied a pair of bagels (6-0, 6-0) against Sam Price at No. 5, and sophomore Patrick Bodovitz (Garden City, N.Y./Garden City) grinded out a tiebreaker to take a 6-1, 7-6 (7-4) win over Josiah Forry at No. 6.
 
Gettysburg resumes play next March.
