GETTYSBURG, Pa. – York College (Pa.) topped the Gettysburg College women's tennis team 6-3 in a non-conference match on Wednesday to close its fall campaign.
 
With both teams coming into today's match unbeaten, the Spartans took an early lead in doubles play as they claimed flights one and three. Sophomore's Amanda Vinges (Basking Ridge, N.J./Ridge) and Shaye Barnes (Rye, N.Y./Rye) notched the Bullets lone doubles play win over Maisie Supp and Hannah Shinsky, 8-1.
 
Senior Maria Martinovic (Lawrence Township, N.J./Princeton Day School) lost her first singles match of the season in a heart-breaking super-tiebreaker to Rachel Wagner (6-4, 6-7 [3-6], 4-10) at the No. 1 position. Senior Maddie Class (Lititz, Pa./Warwick) tallied her fourth straight singles match victory of the season against Maisie Supp, 7-5, 6-1 at the No. 3 position, while Barnes collected the No. 4 position over Jessica Sherman, 6-1, 7-5. York took positions No. 1, No. 2, No. 5, and No. 6 to grab the 6-3 victory.
 
Gettysburg resumes play next March.
