GETTYSBURG, Pa. – One of the largest collegiate cross country meets in the region will take place on Saturday with the 31st running of the Gettysburg College Invitational.
In the Bullets' first home meet of the season, some 33 teams will converge on a primarily flat and fast course held on campus.
The men's race, which will include 30 schools, one club team, and a couple of unattached runners will kick off the meet at 10:30 a.m. The women's race will follow at 11:30 a.m. and will feature 33 schools and one club team. The meet will feature schools from six different states and all but three are NCAA divisions.
For both the men's and women's races, the starting area is located on the tennis court side of Mummasburg Road while the finish line is located adjacent to Clark Field. Both the women's 6,000-meter course and the men's 8,000-meter circuit loop through the western part of campus, encircling Bobby Jones Field and Quarry Pond.
Mount St. Mary's University won last year's men's team title while Cedarville University notched the women's title. Individually, Kyle Wagener (Pacers/GRC New Balance) won the men's race in 25:54 while Hannah Dorian from Saint Francis University captured the women's event in 22:26.
