Bullets Breeze Past Bryn Mawr

Gettysburg remains undefeated in conference play

GETTYSBURG, Pa. – Sophomore Mackenzie Tinner (Newtown, Pa./Council Rock High School North) came off the bench to lead Gettysburg College (11-1, 7-0 CC) with 12 points, eight rebounds, and a career-high five blocks to help the Bullets remain undefeated in Centennial Conference action after cruising past Bryn Mawr College (0-11, 0-7 CC) 78-25 on Thursday night in women's basketball action.

How It Happened…
  • First Quarter
    • Senior Ashley Gehrin (Chester, N.J./West Morris Mendham) started the scoring for the Bullets with a lay-up as they went on an 8-0 run before Ella Kotsen hit a three-pointer at the 5:07 marker. Gettysburg concluded the frame out-scoring Bryn Mawr, 8-3, and shooting 50 percent (8-of-16) from the field to finish with a 16-6 advantage.
  • Second Quarter
    • The Bullets continued to dial in the second frame as the team produced another 50 percent (10-of-20) shooting performance. The lead grew to 27 off a jumper by sophomore Tori Yantsos (Rockville, Md./Holy Child), and the Bullets held Bryn Mawr to four points. Tinner and classmate Carly Rice (Pennington, N.J./The Pennington School) each scored six points in the frame to lead the Bullets as the team headed into intermission with a 20-4 advantage.
  • Third Quarter
    • The margin did not dip below 28 the rest of the way and hit 45 off a jumper by freshman Rebecca Blaszczyk (Swedesboro, N.J./Kingsway). The Orange and Blue concluded the frame with its highest shooting percentage of the night, canning 58.8 (10-of-17) from the field.
  • Fourth Quarter
    • Seven reserves and one starter took over in the fourth for Gettysburg and out-scored Bryn Mawr 19-11.
By the Numbers
  • Gettysburg connected on 36-of-69 (52.2 percent) from the field, while Bryn Mawr shot below 14 percent from the floor. The Bullets have now shot over 50 percent in seven games this season and four in the last five.
  • The Orange and Blue won the rebounding battle 47-38.
  • The Bullets finished with 14 steals, the most in one game this season.
  • Gettysburg's bench tallied 60 of the 78 points.
  • Fourteen players in all saw action in tonight's game with 13 making it into the scoring column for the Bullets.
