How It Happened…
  • First Half
    • Salisbury dominated the early going, rattling off the game's first four goals. Delaney Hill tossed in the first tally 1:32 into the contest and the Sea Gulls won each of the next three draws, resulting in a goal by McNulty and back-to-back tallies by DeMato to make it 4-0 at 24:38.
    • A timeout by the Bullets righted the ship and Orzechowski tossed in her team's first goal at 23:31. McKeever tracked down the next draw control and Nemeth cut the deficit in half 36 seconds later off a feed by Barr.
    • Gettysburg would eventually pull even at 5-5 with Patterson dishing to Orzechowski at 15:31. Graham helped put the Sea Gulls back in front, first making a stop on a shot by Patterson that led to another tally by DeMato. The Salisbury goalie intercepted a pass later in the frame and the hosts extended the lead to 7-5 on a free-position goal by Erin Scannell at 6:39.
    • The Bullets seized momentum with a 3-0 run to end the first half. McKeever led the charge with a pair of goals, including the final tally with five seconds left to put the visitors in front 8-7 heading into the break.
  • Second Half
    • Salisbury stole the momentum right back with its own three-goal spurt to begin the final stanza. The Sea Gulls led 10-8 following a free-position goal by Riley Hartmann with 22:57 to play.
    • Patterson broke the run with an unassisted tally at 19:08, but Salisbury stopped the Bullets on their next three possessions before McQuay hit pay-dirt to push the lead to 11-9 with 12:41 on the clock.
    • Barr posted a goal to trim the margin to one and Gettysburg came through defensively by forcing the Sea Gulls into three turnovers on its next three possessions.  Lee also posted a pair of saves to preserve the one-goal deficit.
    • McKeever provided the equalizer in regulation, cutting down the right wing and firing a show past Graham with 3:32 left. Salisbury appeared to score a goal inside the final two minutes, but the attempt was waived off by the officials due to a violation and Lee came up with a big save on a final free-position attempt by Hill with 1:16 left. Gettysburg was unable to get a clean look at the cage inside the final minute.
  • Overtime
    • Both teams went to an extra period for the first time in 2020. Salisbury won the opening draw, but senior Claire Macatee (Bel Air, Md./North Harford) knocked the ball out of Emma Skoglund's stick to gain possession for Gettysburg. The Bullets missed on the first shot attempt as Patterson's heave sailed wide.
    • After switching sides at the midpoint of the overtime period, the Sea Gulls once again won the draw, but came up empty as Anna Wehland lost control near the crease and Budd corralled the ground ball. Coming out of timeout, Patterson gained possession at the top of the arc and managed to split through the defense and fired a shot right past Graham into the cage.

By the Numbers
  • Both teams recorded 25 shots and Salisbury held a slight edge in ground balls at 16-14. Gettysburg won the battle inside the draw circle 15-11.
  • The Bullets were playing in their first overtime contest since falling to Franklin & Marshall College 7-6 in double overtime in the 2017 Centennial Conference Championship. The win over Salisbury was Gettysburg's first overtime victory since beating Messiah College 7-6 in the 2017 season opener.
  • Patterson is 20 draw controls shy of Gettysburg's all-time mark. She ranks third with 265 and is just seven short of Megan Murphy '03 for No. 2. Bridget Kenny '15 is the program's career leader with 285 draw controls.
  • McKeever cracked the program's top 25 for career points. She sits 25th overall with 165 points. Barr took over sole possession of ninth on the list with 238 points.
