GETTYSBURG, Pa. – The Gettysburg College cross country teams are set to race in the highly competitive Centennial Conference Championships this Saturday in Cockeysville, Maryland, hosted by Johns Hopkins University.

The men's 8,000-meter race will kick off at 11 a.m. before the women's varsity 6,000-meter race will begin at noon. A combined men's and women's open race will also be held at 12:45 p.m.

After not having the 2020 Centennial Conference Championships due to the COVID-19 pandemic, both teams will be aiming to improve upon their finishes from two seasons ago. The men's team placed fifth while the women's squad finished seventh. Johns Hopkins is looking to defend its men's title, while Johns Hopkins is the 12-time defending champion in the women's competition.

On the men's side, the Bullets return senior Dylan McKeever (Furlong, Pa./Central Bucks East), who brings experience racing in the conference championship. He placed 20th at the 2019 conference race, which was hosted by Gettysburg, and 35th at the 2018 meet. This season, McKeever has been the Bullets No. 1 runner twice and the No. 2 runner once.

Junior Connor Elliott (Media, Pa./Salesianum) has made significant improvement during his junior campaign, finishing as the Bullets No. 1 runner three times and the No. 2 twice. He set his 8,000-meter personal record earlier this season at the Mike Woods Invite, hosted by SUNY Geneseo, and grabbed his highest 8K finish at the Aubrey Shenk Invite, claiming ninth overall. At the 2019 championship, he took 47th place.

Five additional runners who ran in the 2019 race will also compete this year in seniors Will Hopkins (Raleigh, N.C./Needham B. Broughton), Charles Norelli (Allentown, Pa./Emmaus), Luke Matzke (Collegeville, Pa./Malvern Prep), Henry Goodson (Staunton, Va./Robert E. Lee), and Owen Crosby (Wilmington, Del./Newark Charter).

For the women's team, senior Kate O'Brien (Lynchburg, Va./Virginia Episcopal School) has been one of the top runners for the Bullets during her sophomore and senior campaign. During the 2019 championship race, she finished as the No. 2 runner by taking 45th and placed 49th in the 2018 race. She has been the team's No. 1 finisher in two meets this season and the team's No. 2 runner twice. Her highest 6,000-meter finish came at the Aubrey Shenk Invite, registering 11th.

Junior Amy Cantrell (Hailey, Idaho/Wood River) has also been a solid contributor for the Orange and Blue during her two seasons. During her first conference championship race in 2019, she was the team's top finisher by placing 34th. This season, the junior has been the team's No. 1 runner twice and No. 2 finisher once. Cantrell clocked her 6K PR at the Mike Woods Invite, hosted by SUNY Geneseo, earlier this season.

Three additional Bullets also bring Centennial Conference Championship experience. Senior Ashlyn Booher (Boiling Springs, Pa./Boiling Springs), and juniors Amanda Addesso (Cheshire, Conn./Cheshire) and Rachel Nori (Avon, Conn./Avon).
