BALTIMORE, Md. – The Gettysburg College women's basketball team opened its campaign with an exhibition matchup at Division I UMBC inside the Chesapeake Employers Insurance Arena Tuesday night where the hosts took the 79-33 victory.
The setback does not count against Gettysburg's regular-season record as a Division III institution, but UMBC received credit for its first win of the campaign.

How It Happened…
- First Quarter: The Retrievers mounted a 15-0 lead before junior Meghan Barbera (Fort Washington, Pa./Upper Dublin) snapped the streak by making a jumper with 2:38 on the clock. The hosts notched five more points to end the first quarter with a 20-4 lead.
- Second Quarter: The Retrievers pulled away with a 15-3 run at the end of the second quarter to hold the steady lead heading into the half.
- Third Quarter: UMBC outscored Gettysburg 18-6 in the third quarter to maintain the double-figure lead heading into the final quarter.
- Fourth Quarter: The Bullets shot a quarter best as sophomore Caitlyn Priore (Holland, Pa./Germantown Academy) scored all of her four points in the final quarter to guide the Bullets. UMBC held the slight 18-13 edge in scoring to claim its first victory of the season.
