Game Summary
  • First Quarter: Rice started the scoring by drilling a three-pointer as she and classmate Tinner combined to net the Bullets' first seven points to go ahead 7-3. A lay-up by Mallory Conroy put the Green Terror within two with 7:31 on the clock, but Gettysburg rolled out to a 10-4 run thereafter to make it 17-11 with under four minutes remaining. McDaniel outscored Gettysburg 8-3 in the final minutes to slice the deficit down to four to make it 20-16 heading into the second quarter. The Bullets finished by going 8-of-18 (44.4 percent) from the field.
  • Second Quarter: Rice was feeling it from three-point range as she drained a trey 35 seconds into the second quarter and canned another a few minutes later to push Gettysburg's lead 28-10 with 7:11 to go. The Orange and Blue held the Green Terror to a quarter low six points and forced four turnovers, with Tinner's defensive efforts in full effect as she posted three of her four blocks in the quarter. Gettysburg headed into halftime with the 32-22 advantage.
  • Third Quarter: Mallory Conroy notched six of the Green Terror eight points to start the third quarter and to put the squad within six (36-30). Another three-pointer by Rice midway through helped corral the Bullets to an 11-4 run to close the quarter. Freshman Delaney Donohoe (Basking Ridge, N.J./Ridge) added four of those points to extend their lead 47-34 going into the final quarter.
  • Fourth Quarter: The Green Terror did not back down from the Bullets as they went on a 15-3 spurt, which included Julia Ryan hitting two from three-point land, to make it a one-point (50-49) game with 4:06 to go. After the timeout, Gettysburg did not let up and came out with buckets from senior Christina Richson (Summit, N.J./Summit) and Rice to push the lead back to four. Ellie Glass made a jumper and one free throw to threaten a comeback with 36 seconds to go, but a jumper by the reigning Centennial Conference Player of the Week freshman Mackenzie Szlosek (Holtsville, N.Y./Sachem East) moments later sealed the 57-52 victory.
By the Numbers
  • The Bullets shot 33.3 percent from the floor (22-of-66) and 44.4 percent from the free throw line (8-of-18). The Green Terror went 20-of-52 (38.5 percent) from the field and 61.5 percent (8-of-13) from the free throw line.
