Gettysburg Shuts Out McDaniel

Bullets take down Green Terror 9-0

GETTYSBURG, Pa. – Gettysburg College (2-4) wrapped up its home slate with a 9-0 victory over McDaniel College (0-4) in Centennial Conference men's tennis action at the Bullets Tennis Courts Friday evening.  
 
Singles competition
1. Alex Kagan (GCM) def. Luke Szukalski (MCD) 6-4, 6-1
2. Michael Zayneh (GCM) def. Del Carden (MCD) 6-0, 6-0
3. Zach LaChance (GCM) def. Quinn Burker (MCD) 6-1, 6-1

Match Recap
Gettysburg cruised past the out-manned McDaniel squad with forfeit wins at third doubles and fifth and sixth singles. The Bullets won both doubles competitions with the first-year duo of Alex Kagan (Guilford, Conn./Guilford) and Michael Zayneh (Hilton Head, S.C./Heritage Academy) winning 8-2 at the top flight and juniors Zach LaChance (Pittstown, N.J./Delaware Valley) and Matt Rau (Castle Pines, Colo./Regis Jesuit) claiming an 8-3 win at No. 2.
 
The Bullets swept the four singles matches played. Zayneh and senior Patrick Bodovitz (Garden City, N.Y./Garden City) each put down a pair of bagels (6-0, 6-0) at the second and fourth flights. LaChance posted a pair of 6-1 scores at No. 3, while Kagan wrapped up the win with a 6-4, 6-1 win over Luke Szukalski.
 
Where the Series Stands Now
Gettysburg has won 37 consecutive meetings with McDaniel dating back to 1983. The Bullets improved to 73-29-2 in the all-time series.
