THE REST OF THE STORY
•
Emily Violante (Easton, Pa./Easton Area) notched the first four points of the game within the first two minutes of play, but the Falcons quickly followed with two points of their own to get on the board. The score stayed at 4-2 for a little over two minutes until
Mackenzie Szlosek broke through on a second-chance layup with 5:49 showing. Several fouls and turnovers by both teams yielded no points for the next four minutes, before
Kylie Holcomb (Enola, Pa./Cumberland Valley) hit a free throw to give the Bullets a five-point lead. Lily Guerra of Concordia notched a 3-pointer with 40 seconds remaining to send Gettysburg into the second up by two.
• Holcomb started out the second period strong for the Bullets, knocking down a triple in the first second of play. Her 3-pointer would start a 11-5 run for Gettysburg, spurred by three different shooters. With the score locked up at 21-10, Concordia finally broke up Gettysburg's momentum as Lindsey Lonigro hit a triple with 3:37 showing in the half. However, it wasn't enough to stop the Bullets, as they went on a 5-2 run to send them into the break up 11 over the Falcons.
• The third quarter started much like the second, as
Alayna Arnolie (Vienna, Va./James Madison) drained a three only 45 seconds in. Violante knocked down two at the line before the Falcons scored on a jumper and a triple, bringing the score to 33-20. From there, the Bullets went on a 12-2 run that spanned the rest of the period, giving them a 23-point lead heading into the last quarter.
• A 5-0 run for the Falcons started the final quarter play as they cut the deficit to 18, but it would be the Bullets who controlled the last quarter, going on a 12-0 run to make it 57-29 with 4:36 showing. The Falcons grabbed three more points from a jumper and two free throws, but a jumper by
Caitlyn Priore (Holland, Pa./Germantown Academy) would be the last points of the game as the Bullets ran away with a 61-31 victory.
