Breakdown
- Penn State Mont Alto knocked in the game's first run in the second inning. Tyler Moreland singled through the left side and advanced around the bases on an error and fielder's choice. Caiden Smith cashed in with a single through the left side for a 1-0 lead.
- The Nittany Lions added two more runs in the top of the fourth as Lentvorsky drove an inside fastball over the left field fence for a two-run home run.
- An error to open the bottom of the fourth set up Gettysburg for its first run. Moreland made a nice stop on a hit down the line by senior Matt Muir (South Easton, Mass./Oliver Ames), but the throw skirted past the first baseman and allowed Muir to run to second base. A single by senior Andrew Decker (Baltimore, Md./Towson) put Muir at third and a sacrifice fly by Neels to center field brought home the senior.
- Weinbrum did not allow a hit in the fifth and sixth innings, but Penn State finally figured out the right hander in the seventh with Smith hitting a lead-off single. After a sacrifice moved Smith over to second, McClure singled through the left side to end Weinbrum's outing. Sophomore Cole Wong (Vero Beach, Fla./Xavier) walked his first batter, but the next batter bounced a hit off the trailing runner and resulted in the second out of the frame. Decker gloved a hot shot off the bat of Moreland at third to close the inning.
- The Bullets pulled to 3-2 in the seventh. Preziuso drew a one-out walk and scampered to third on a double down the line by Angulo. Junior Kyle Miller (Montclair, N.J./Montclair) followed up with a short fly to right field and Preziuso slid past the catcher for the run.
- After reaching on an error to start the eighth, Zane Mack jetted to third on a single by Goodyear and raced home on a bunt single in front of the plate by Lentvorsky. Penn State Mont Alto tacked on its final run on a single up the middle by Goodyear in the ninth.
- Gettysburg put two runners on board as junior JR McCloskey (Huntington, N.Y./Chaminade) and Preziuso posted back-to-back singles with one out against sub-mariner Tanner Byers in the ninth inning. Byers closed the door by striking out Angula and getting Miller to fly out to center field for the save.
