Game Summary…
  • First Quarter
    • Gettysburg struck for the game's first two goals with Fullowan connecting on a free-position attempt less than a minute into the game and King scoring on a quick stick following a toss in front by Basso at 9:29.
    • Washington and Lee countered with the next two goals and eventually pulled in front following turnovers by the Bullets. A caused turnover by Allie Doyle set the stage for McKnight to score on a free-position shot and put the Generals ahead 4-3 with 54 seconds left.
    • Just before the buzzer, Basso drew a foul inside the eight-meter arc and the lefty attacker whipped a free-position shot past the goalie in the final second.
  • Second Quarter
    • Gettysburg ran past the Generals in the second quarter and scored five goals on just six shots. Seibel started the run with an advantage goal at 12:43.
    • Twill thwarted a shot by Timoney and the Bullets forced another turnover on Washington and Lee's next clear attempt. The Bullets took advantage of the error with King sliding a goal into the cage for a 6-4 lead at 4:56.
    • Gettysburg hammered three more free-position goals into the back of the net inside the final two minutes of the first half. Junior Gabi Connor (Haddonfield, N.J./Haddonfield Memorial) provided the final tally with 15 seconds left and the Bullets took a 9-4 lead into the break.
  • Third Quarter
    • Following a stop by Twill, Basso found Seibel for a goal 30 seconds later to finish the seven-goal run for Gettysburg. Schwab scored the next goal to end a nearly 23-minute scoring drought for the Generals. McKnight tacked on a free-position goal to make it 10-6 with less than five minutes left in the period.
    • Basso padded the lead with another free-position attempt to push Gettysburg ahead by five (11-6) heading into the final quarter.
  • Fourth Quarter
    • Washington and Lee did not go quietly in the final period, earning a 6-3 advantage in draw controls and out-scoring the Bullets 6-2. The Generals tossed in the first two goals to bring the score to 11-8 with 13:04 remaining.
    • Back-to-back tallies by Fullowan and Seibel appeared to give the Bullets a comfortable lead at 13-8 with about seven minutes left. However, the Generals came charging with four consecutive goals, the last two coming inside the final 20 seconds. After seeing the hosts score off the previous draw, Fullowan raced down the final draw control to seal the win.
