Gettysburg, Pa. - Franklin & Marshall College scored in six of the final seven innings while holding Gettysburg College in check to post an 11-0 victory in a Centennial Conference baseball matchup on Wednesday at Kirchhoff Field.

Dan Galef tossed eight scoreless innings to lead the Diplomats (21-13, 12-3 CC), who pulled into a tie for first place in the conference standings with Swarthmore College.

JR McCloskey (Huntington Station, N.Y./Chaminade) collected a pair of extra-base hits for the Bullets (16-19, 7-8 CC), doubling in the third and logging a triple in the fifth while also picking up a stolen base.

With games remaining in the regular season, Gettysburg sits one game back of a four-way logjam of teams tied for third place. The top four teams qualify for the Centennial Conference playoffs.

F&M opened the scoring in the top of the third on Wednesday, courtesy of an RBI triple from Spencer Berson also drove in the visitor's second run in the fifth with a base hit.

The Diplomats extended their lead to 4-0 in the top of the sixth with runs scoring on a passed ball and a wild pitch.

An inning later, Pat Elliot drove in a run with an infield single before Patrick Cettina connected on a two-run triple to give the visitors a seven-run cushion.

F&M tacked on three more runs in the eighth inning before closing out the scoring with another run in the ninth.

Galef (3-0) scattered five hits, walked three, and struck out six batters in eight innings of work to earn the win for the Diplomats.Â

Cole Wong (Vero Beach, Fla./Xavier) (0-2) suffered the loss despite striking out six batters in 5.1 innings. Wong was charged with four runs on seven hits and three walks.Â

Nate Masteralexis (Amherst, Mass./Amherst Regional) recorded and out and walked a batter before handing the ball off to junior
Ken Spadaccini (Cresskill, N.J./Cresskill), who surrendered three runs on three hits while picking up one K in 1.1 innings.

Patrick Clementi (King of Prussia, Pa./Devon Prep) and junior
Mike Giammarino (Basking Ridge, N.J./Gill Saint Bernards) worked an inning apiece, with Clementi being charged with three runs (two earned) on two hits and one walk and Giammarino giving up a run on one hit and two free passes. Both relievers notched a strikeout.

F&M held a 13-5 advantage in hits for the game and committed one error to two defensive miscues for Gettysburg. Both teams left 11 runners on base in the contest.
