THE LEADERS
•
Mackenzie Szlosek (Holtsville, N.Y./Sachem East) racked up 21 points as the only Bullet in double digits. She also added five rebounds and two steals.
•
Caitlyn Priore (Holland, Pa./Germantown Academy) scored eight points and had four blocks and four rebounds.
FOR THE FOES
• Gia Sioutis led the Diplomats with eight points.
THE REST OF THE STORY
• An
Alayna Arnolie (Vienna, Va./James Madison) jumper started the scoring and it would be almost two minutes before
Mackenzie Szlosek scored again for the Bullets. Two Szlosek 3-pointers nearly a minute apart grew the Gettysburg lead to 10-0, and
Tatum Murray (Newton, Mass./Newton South) hit a jumper with 4:28 left in the first to cap a Gettysburg 12-point run. Lizzie Neville split a pair at the line for the Diplomats to halt the Bullets run, and the visitors put together a 5-3 run over the final 2:55 to trail 15-6 after one quarter.
• Two
Caitlyn Priore free throws over 90 seconds into the second quarter were the first points of the period as the Bullets lead grew to 11. After a 2 minute, 26 second scoring drought,
Shinya Lee (Rochester, N.Y./Holderness Prep) split a pair at the line to make it a 12-point game. A Hailey Cabanas triple with 5:44 to play in the half sparked an 11-6 Diplomats run to close within seven, but a jumper by
Reagan Chrencik (New Hope, Pa./New Hope-Solebury) helped grow the lead back to double digits before Ally Trebelev made one at the charity stripe to make it a nine-point game going into the locker rooms.
• Jaclyn Felt laid one in for the Diplomats to start the second quarter before a 9-2 Gettysburg run that spanned 2 minutes, 33 seconds gave the Bullets their largest lead thus far, 38-22. With 4:53 to play in the quarter, the Diplomats responded with five field goals to close within ten points, but jumpers by Arnolie and Szlosek sandwiched a Gia Sioutis basket to yield a Gettysburg 12-point lead going into the final quarter.
•
AB Holsinger (Crozet, Va./Langley) hit a triple 20 seconds into the final quarter to kick off a 10-10 rest of the quarter. Gettysburg never led by less than 12 points the rest of the way, closing out the game with a 15-point victory.
