Gettysburg (9-3, 6-1 CC) 55, Haverford (4-8, 1-6 CC) 40
What: Centennial Conference (CC) women's basketball game
When: Tuesday, January 9
Where: Gettysburg, Pa.

THE SKINNY STORY
Haverford held Gettysburg to just 24 percent shooting in the first half and held onto a lead as large as eight points until the final 15 minutes of the game, where Mackenzie Szlosek (Holtsville, N.Y./Sachem East) sparked a 17-2 run to tear away from the Fords in the Bullets' first home game of the new year.

THE LEADERS
• Szlosek scored 14 points, all of which came in the final quarter. She also added seven rebounds and one block.
Emily Violante's (Easton, Pa./Easton) 7 for 7 free throw shooting kept the Bullets in the game during the third quarter. She ended with 13 points and four rebounds.
Marah McHugh (West Chester, Pa./Villa Maria Academy) scored eight points and grabbed six boards.

FOR THE FOES
• Ally Landau was the only Ford in double digits with 17 points.

THE REST OF THE STORY
• An early Haverford 3-pointer ballooned to an eight-point lead as the Fords kept the Bullets largely off the board for the first seven minutes of the game. A Violante three-point play and Shinya Lee (Rochester, N.Y./Holderness Prep) jumper cut the deficit to as little as three at one point, but the Fords left the first quarter with a 13-6 advantage.
• A 5-2 Haverford run to start the second quarter yielded a 10-point lead for the visitors. Baskets by McHugh and Alayna Arnolie (Vienna, Va./James Madison) brought the score within 21-19, but the Fords hit a jumper with 1:25 remaining and a buzzer-beater to hold a six-point advantage at half.
• Violante responded to several Haverford baskets with sharp free-throw shooting to keep the Fords to under a 10-point gap. After knocking down her second pair at the line, she laid one in to cut the gap to just three. Just over 90 seconds later, Lee took a second-chance shot to make it a one-point game. Tatum Murray (Newton, Mass./Newton South) and Kimberly Hopkins (Baldwin, N.Y./Sacred Heart Academy) each made two free throws to tie the game for the first time, before another Haverford buzzer-beater gave them the one-possession advantage once more.
• That was as close as Haverford would get the rest of the way. Szlosek knocked down her first shot of the night, which quickly turned into 11 more points to establish a Gettysburg 52-38 lead. Arnolie and Lee also made key shots in the stretch. McHugh and AB Holsinger (Crozet, Va./Langley) hit another shot each for a 55-40 Gettysburg final.

THE INSIDE STORY
• Arnolie scored nine points, while Lee had six.
• Gettysburg shot 45 percent from the field goal range in the final quarter.
