THE LEADERS
•
Alayna Arnolie (Vienna, Va./James Madison) led the Bullets with 19 points, seven rebounds and two assists to go with a career-high seven steals.
•
Shinya Lee (Rochester, N.Y./Holderness Prep School) added eight points, 14 rebounds and three steals.
FOR THE FOES
• Bri Frongillo led the Lions with 13 points, including hitting three 3-pointers.
THE REST OF THE STORY
• Triples from Bri Frongillo and Kendra Dodd keyed an 8-0 start for Emerson in the game's first 2:19.
Alayna Arnolie hit an elbow jumper with 7:26 on the clock to get Gettysburg on the board and start a 7-0 counter over just 65 seconds to close to within one. After a Claire English layup, Arnolie drained her second triple of the opening period to draw the Bullets even with 5:10 showing. That started a streak of 13 straight points over just 2 minutes, 5 minutes and extended the run to 20-2, forcing a Lions' timeout with 3:01 remaining in the opening quarter. A Frongillo 3-pointer and Elise Arnold layup closed the deficit to 20-15 at the end of the period.
• The lead remained between four and six points until
Emily Violante (Easton, Pa./Easton Area) hit a reverse layup for a 28-20 advantage with 4:57 on the clock. Frongillo canned another trey to make it 28-25 with 2:41 showing but
Jameson Mott (Evergreen, Colo./Evergreen) and
Reagan Chrencik (New Hope, Pa./New Hope-Solebury) baskets extended the lead back to seven en route to a 34-28 halftime edge.
• The Bullets scored the first four points of the third quarter to extend the lead back to double digits but an Emerson 3-pointer with 5:53 showing trimmed the margin back to 38-31. Holding a 46-40 lead, two
Skylar Reale (Warren, N.J./Morristown Beard) free throws and an Arnolie jumper in the final 40 seconds of the period stretched the lead to 10 entering the final quarter.
• Leading 52-42, Gettysburg scored five straight points to take a 15-point advantage with 4:31 to play. An Elise Arnold 3-pointer was the only points until
AB Holsinger (Charlottesville, Va./Langley) hit a corner triple with 2:17 remaining to push the lead back to 15 and the Lions got no closer than 13 the rest of the way.
