LAST TIME OUT: The Gettysburg 2023 season ended with a national runner-up finish, falling 17-9 to Middlebury in the NCAA championship game. Julia Daly led the Bullets with four goals while Jordan Basso added two goals and two assists. NO. 2 WITH A BULLET: Gettysburg opens the 2024 season right where it finished in the 2023 poll - No. 2. The Bullets are behind only defending national champion Middlebury in the preseason rankings after the runner-up finish to the Panthers.
PRESEASON HONOR ROLL: USA Lacrosse Magazine released its preseason players of the year at each position group last week and Gettysburg junior Lily Macatee was named the publication's Preseason Division III Defender of the Year. One of three first-team preseason All-Americans, the reigning Centennial Conference Defensive Player of the Year was a first-team All-American in 2023. Starting all 24 games, she led the team with 128 draw controls last season and 25 caused turnovers. She also picked up 37 ground balls. Jordan Basso and Caroline Sullivan were also first-team preseason All-Americans while Julia Daly was an honorable mention. Basso is the two-time reigning conference Attacker of the Year and Daly was the 2023 Rookie of the Year.
