OPENING DRAW: Today's non-conference game marks the 11th all-time meeting between No. 2 Gettysburg (0-0) and Stevenson (0-1) in a series that dates back to 2012. The Bullets have won all 10 previous meetings.

WHEN LAST WE MET: Gettysburg opened up a 4-0 lead at the end of the first quarter en route to a 15-5 victory over Stevenson on Feb. 18, 2023. Caroline Sullivan led the Bullets with four goals and two assists. She also won three draw controls. Jordan Basso handed out four assists to go with three caused turnovers. LAST TIME OUT: The Gettysburg 2023 season ended with a national runner-up finish, falling 17-9 to Middlebury in the NCAA championship game. Julia Daly led the Bullets with four goals while Jordan Basso added two goals and two assists. Hope Shue finished with seven goals and one assist to earn the most outstanding player award and lead the Panthers to their second straight national title. (Full Recap) (Box Score)

NO. 2 WITH A BULLET: Gettysburg opens the 2024 season right where it finished in the 2023 poll - No. 2. The Bullets are behind only defending national champion Middlebury in the preseason rankings after the runner-up finish to the Panthers.

PRESEASON HONOR ROLL: USA Lacrosse Magazine released its preseason players of the year at each position group last week and Gettysburg junior Lily Macatee was named the publication's Preseason Division III Defender of the Year. One of three first-team preseason All-Americans, the reigning Centennial Conference Defensive Player of the Year was a first-team All-American in 2023. Starting all 24 games, she led the team with 128 draw controls last season and 25 caused turnovers. She also picked up 37 ground balls. Jordan Basso and Caroline Sullivan were also first-team preseason All-Americans while Julia Daly was an honorable mention. Basso is the two-time reigning conference Attacker of the Year and Daly was the 2023 Rookie of the Year. 

LAST TIME OUT: In its season opener, Stevenson University was outscored 7-0 in the third period en route to the Sea Gulls' 20-7 victory last Saturday. The Mustangs got a pair of goals from Kara Yarusso, Isabelle VanEmburgh and Erin Steinberg. Yarusso and VanEmburgh collected two assists apiece on the afternoon. (Full Recap) (Box Score)

ON HER HIGH HORSE: Kara Yarusso returns to lead the Stevenson attack in 2024 after earning IWLCA All-Metro Region first-team honors last season. She led the team last season with 51 goals and 59 points. She also corralled a team-best 81 draw controls. Yarusso's senior campaign opened last week with a two-goal, three-assist performance against Salisbury. She also had five draw controls.
