THE SKINNY STORY
Gettysburg, ranked eighth in the latest ILWomen/IWLCA Div. III coaches' poll, held No. 23 Haverford off the scoreboard for the first nearly 24 minutes of the game, building an 8-0 lead en route to a 16-5 victory.
THE LEADERS

Lily Macatee (Street, Md./North Harford) led the defensive unit with two caused turnovers and seven draw controls.

Emily Crane (Montclair, N.J./Montclair) chipped in nine draw controls to go with two goals.
•
Julie Breedveld (Wayne, Pa./Radnor) paced the attack with four goals and an assist to go with a caused turnover.

Jordan Basso (Rye, N.Y./Rye) hit a cutting
Maddie Passarello (West Chester, Pa./Unionville) for a 1-0 lead.
Julie Breedveld then scored 1 minute, 38 seconds apart – the second off the second of five Basso helpers – to stretch the lead to 3-0 with 6;18 to play in the opening quarter.
Caroline Sullivan (Fairfield, Conn./Fairfield Ludlowe) ripped a shot in front for her 100th career marker with 5:33 on the clock.

Ella Patterson (New Canaan, Conn./New Canaan) was the recipient of a Basso feed to be the fourth different goal scorer and make it 5-0 just 52 seconds into the second quarter. Breedveld found
Julia Daly (McLean, Va./Langley) with 10:34 showing before Daly returned the favor 34 ticks later for a 7-0 lead.
Lauren O'Connell (Winchester, Mass./Winchester) worked through the defense and finished high for an 8-0 lead with 9:11 on the clock. Tiffany Mikulis broke up the shutout with 6:04 to play and that's where the lead remained until half.
• Daly finished from Sullivan just 52 seconds into the third quarter before Mikulas hit Brooke Epstein just over two minutes later. Sullivan then found Crane and
Sophie Smith (Great Valls, Va./Langley) just 2:27 apart to push the lead back to nine with 7:38 remaining. Unassisted goals from Kylie Kearon and Epstein trimmed the margin to seven with 3:56 to play but Basso found Smith just 50 seconds later then hit Passarello with 1:42 showing to get both goals back. A Crane marker in the final 22 seconds pushed the lead to 10.
• A Breedveld free-position tally and
Nina Marra (Ridgewood, N.J./Ridgewood) unassisted marker pushed the advantage to 12 before Mikulis scored in the waning seconds for the final margin.
THE INSIDE STORY

Jordan Basso finished with five assists while
Caroline Sullivan added a goal and three helpers.
• Gettysburg had a 38-22 advantage in shots and 19-4 advantage in draw controls.
• The Haverford goal with 6:04 to play in the second quarter snapped a scoreless stretch of 70 minutes, 50 seconds by the Bullet defense. It was the longest span posted the team since a run of 75 minutes, 48 seconds between Apr. 5 and 15 in 2017.
