Alex Kagan (Guilford, Conn./Guilford) also had the closest doubles match, ultimately falling 4-8 in the No. 1 spot.
THE REST OF THE STORY
• Gettysburg's second and third doubles teams lost 3-8 and 2-8, respectively, to give Johns Hopkins a 3-0 lead heading into singles play.
• In the singles competition,
Mikey Fellman (Rockville, Md./Thomas S. Wootton) dropped a 3-6, 0-6 match at first singles. Kagan was defeated 1-6, 0-6 at third singles.
• Each of
Tyler Blanz (Glen Ridge, N.J./Glen Ridge),
Ben O'Connor-Skloot (Dobbs Ferry, N.Y./Dobbs Ferry), and
