Gettysburg opens search for CC title on Friday at home

GETTYSBURG, Pa. – Gettysburg will host one of the two semifinals of 2024 Centennial Conference (CC) women's lacrosse championship tournament on Friday. Game time is 4 p.m.

In the second year of the new six-team format, a change was made to the format this season and the field will be reseeded for the semifinals. The Bullets (15-2, 9-0 CC), who are the No. 1 seed, will host the lower-seeded remaining team while Franklin & Marshall (14-3, 8-1 CC), the No. 2 seed, will host the higher-seeded remaining team in the other semifinal on Friday at 5 p.m.

In the opening round on Wednesday, fourth-seeded Muhlenberg (12-4, 5-4 CC) will host fifth-seeded Washington (Md.) (10-6, 5-4 CC) at 4 p.m. Third-seeded Haverford (11-5, 7-2 CC) will host sixth-seeded Dickinson (10-6, 5-4 CC) in the other first-round matchup at 5 p.m.

The semifinal winners will advance to Sunday's championship game, which will be played at the site of the highest remaining seed. Game time will be 1 p.m.

Tickets will be sold for each round of the CC tournament and will be available soon on the Centennial ticketing homepage. Admission is $10 for adults, $5 for students age 6 through high school and senior citizens. Children five and under as well as students and staff from conference institutions are free.

The tournament's champion will earn the CC's automatic bid to the 2024 NCAA Division III tournament, slated to begin on May 11 with first- and second-round action at 14 sites. The NCAA field will be announced on Monday, May 6 at 10:30 a.m.

The Bullets are seeking their 14th conference title. It is the 22nd tournament straight appearance for Gettysburg. The Bullets also in search of their 22nd NCAA tournament bid.

In the regular-season meetings, Gettysburg defeated Muhlenberg 20-3 on Apr. 27, Washington 19-7 on Mar. 30 and Dickinson 20-8 on Apr. 3. The Muhlenberg game was at home while the Washington and Dickinson games were on the road.

Jordan Basso (Rye, N.Y./Rye) leads the attack with 88 points and 56 goals. Her 32 assists are second on the team while she has also added 28 ground balls and 16 caused turnovers. Julia Daly (McLean, Va./Langley) is second on the team with 54 goals and second on the squad with 69 points. Caroline Sullivan (Fairfield, Conn./Fairfield Ludlowe) paces Gettysburg with 36 assists and is third with 68 points, adding 32 goals, 35 ground balls and 13 caused turnovers.

Emily Crane (Montclair, N.J./Montclair) leads the way with 96 draw controls while also adding 29 goals and 13 assists for 42 points. Lily Macatee (Street, Md./North Harford) has 80 draw controls to go with 34 ground balls and 14 caused turnovers. Julie Breedveld (Wayne, Pa./Radnor) leads the team with 21 caused turnovers while contributing 32 goals and 14 assists for 46 points.

Gillian Cortese (Mount Laurel, N.J./Lenape) has backstopped the defense with a 7.28 goals-against average and .497 save percentage.
