Gettysburg defeats Lebanon Valley in dual opener

THE SKINNY STORY
Gettysburg swept doubles before winning five of the six singles matches for a 6-1 win over Lebanon Valley.

THE LEADERS
Matt Porreca (Blue Bell, Pa./La Salle College) led the Bullets with two wins on the day, teaming with Adam Contract (Westfield, N.J./Westfield) for a 6-3 win at No. 2 doubles. Porreca then won the No. 5 singles match, 6-0, 6-4.

FOR THE FOES
• Jack Erb won the lone match for the Flying Dutchmen, winning fourth singles in straight sets by matching scores of 6-2, 6-2.

THE REST OF THE STORY
Adam Contract capped off his two-win outing with a 6-2, 6-1 win at third singles.
JP Damare (Raleigh, N.C./Cardinal Gibbons) and Connor McPartland (Furlong, Pa./Central Bucks East) partnered for a 6-4 win at first doubles and Spencer Pompian (Clayton, Mo./Clayton) and Andy Beckerlegge (Easton, Conn./Fairfield College Prep) wrapped up the sweep of doubles and the 1-0 lead in the match with a 7-6 win at third doubles, winning the tiebreaker, 7-3.
• McPartland added a three-set victory at No. 1 singles. After dropping the first set 6-3, he rallied for the win with victories of 6-4 and 6-2.
Ben O'Connor-Skloot (Dobbs Ferry, N.Y./Dobbs Ferry) secured the match victory for Gettysburg with a three-set victory at second singles. He dropped the opening set to Jesse Beck 6-1 before forcing the deciding set with a 6-3 win. In the final set, O'Connor-Skloot with a 6-1 victory.
Grayson Kahng (Metuchen, N.J./Metuchen) capped the 6-1 win with a 6-1, 6-3 victory at sixth singles.

NEXT UP
Gettysburg returns to action at home against Albright on Saturday, Oct. 4 at 11 a.m. The Bullets then travel to Messiah for a 4 p.m. match.
