THE SKINNY STORY
Gettysburg scored the first nine points of the game and held Penn State-Harrisburg off the board for the game's first 8:04, ultimately finishing with a 76-43 win in the home opener.
THE LEADERS
•
Olivia Jones (Alexandria, Va./West Potomac) led a balanced offensive attack for the Bullets with 12 points to go with five rebounds and two assists.
•
Amanda Rapel (Stewartsville, N.J./Phillipsburg) also reached double figures with 11 points while
Adeline Standish (Avon, Conn./Avon) chipped in 10.
FOR THE FOES
• Mikayla Coleman led the Lions with 14 points – 11 of which came in the fourth quarter against the Gettysburg bench.
THE REST OF THE STORY
• An
Adeline Standish putback 38 seconds into the game was the only points until
Briana Robles (Westchester, N.Y./Poly Prep) drained a wing 3-pointer with 5:22 to play.
Skylar Reale (Warren, N.J./Morristown Beard), however, picked up six of her game-high nine rebounds during the game's opening four minutes when the teams went a combined 1-for-12. The Bullets stretched the lead to 9-0 before Lauren Moffatt hit a jumper with 1:56 to play in the opening period. Four points from Reale helped stretch the lead to 15-5 after one quarter.
• Gettysburg then scored 14 of the first 17 points in the second quarter to build a 29-8 lead with 4:44 showing.
Adeline Standish scored six points during that stretch. The lead grew to 37-10 on another Robles triple with 3:16 showing and
Amanda Rapel made it 40-12 at the intermission with a trey of her own in the final minute.
• An
Ava O'Neil (Chevy Chase, Md./St. John's College) canned a 3-pointer to stretch the lead to 30 for the first time at 46-16 with 7:09 to play in the third quarter. The lead swelled to 40 on a
Sasha Brody (Lynchburg, Va./Virginia Episcopal School) 3-pointer to make it 58-18 with 3:16 remaining en route to a 61-21 lead after three quarters.
• The lead ballooned as large as 68-23 on a Jones triple with 8:35 to play and remained above 36 until a Mikayla Coleman driving layup started a 7-1 finish to the game. She had all seven Lions points in the closing 1:29.
THE INSIDE STORY
•
Skylar Reale finished with eight points, nine rebounds, four assists and two steals.
•
Sasha Brody and
Briana Robles contributed seven points each. Robles also had four helpers.
• Gettysburg shot 41.2 percent for the game while holding Penn State-Harrisburg to 27.6, including just 8-for-40 through the first 30 minutes.
• The Bullets also held a 55-31 rebounding advantage.
