THE REST OF THE STORY
• With one out in the third inning of game one,
Robert Murphy (Berkeley Heights, N.J./Gov. Livingston) was hit by a pitch before a
Mike Coleman (Drexel Hill, Pa./Monsignor Bonner) single and
Will Stellato (Fairfield, Conn./Fairfield Warde) walk loaded the bases. A
Dominick Balsamo (Brooklyn, N.Y./Xaverian) sacrifice fly staked Gettysburg to a 1-0 lead.
• With two outs in the sixth,
Brendan Laqui (Randolph, N.J./Randolph) was hit by a pitch.
Henry Smith (Carlisle, Pa./Carlisle Area) followed with a walk before both scored on a
Will Bercaw single to make it 3-0.
• After a Roche walk and fielder's choice to start the eighth, Bercaw started a run of five straight singles that extended the lead to 8-0. With two outs,
Will Roche (Milton, Mass./Boston College H.S.) doubled home
Jack Amirata (Montclair, N.J./Montclair Kimberley Academy) for the 10-0 win.
• In game two, Danny Cutrupi led off the second with a double before a one-out Steven Dimovski single put runners at the corners. Back-to-back walks to Matthew Lehberger and Marius Haughton got Muhlenberg its first run of the day. Sean Habeeb followed with an RBI single for a 2-0 advantage.
• A walk, hit batter, groundout and Dimovski sacrifice fly extended the lead to 3-0 in the third.
• Balsamo started the home fourth with a single. After a Laqui walk, Roche singled to load the bases for Smith, whose sacrifice fly made it 3-1. A Bercaw single to right cut the margin to one.
• Two walks and two hit batters with one out in the sixth pushed the lead back to two before the Bullets responded with one in the bottom of the frame. A Laqui walk, error, double steal and Smith RBI groundout made it 4-3.
• In the seventh, Balsamo led off with a double down the line before a throwing error tied the time with a runner at second. After a hit batter, a one-out fielder's choice had runners at the corners. Smith stole second before another error scored two for a 6-4 lead.
• Stellato singled to start the eighth. After a hit batter and double steal, Amirata walked. A Laqui RBI groundout and Roche walk loaded the bases with two outs. Bercaw dropped a single in center to score two before Muphy singled back up the middle to make it 10-4. A wild pitch on ball four scored Bercaw for the final margin.
