On September 19, Gettysburg took on Western Connecticut at Shirk Field in an attempt to bounce back from its 27-23 loss to Washington and Lee a week earlier. Gettysburg showed a lot of fight and resilience in their matchup with the Generals and, despite the loss, they had something to look forward to in the Week Three matchup.
 
This marked the third all-time meeting between the Bullets and the Wolves but the last time these two teams met last season, Western Connecticut secured a dominant 55-21 win over the Bullets.
 
Given Gettysburg's performance against W&L and the previous history with Western Connecticut, this game held high stakes.
 
This proved to be a better outcome for the Bullets.
 
Despite Western Connecticut having more first downs and the edge in time of possession, the game mostly dominated by Gettysburg. The long ball was the Bullets' best friend in this matchup as senior captain and quarterback Sean Clark connected with a trio of receivers – Edison Case, Gabriel Diaz, and Danny Bonato – for long touchdown receptions. Clark guided the offense, throwing for a career-high 354 yards and three touchdowns.
 
Along with Bonato's receiving touchdown, he also scored a rushing touchdown thanks to a unique play call on the goal line. Gettysburg brought extra linemen off the bench and lined them up at tight end and in the backfield for extra blocking support. Clark shifted to receiver. A direct snap to Bonato and he rushed it in the endzone for a one-yard touchdown.
 
Special teams was anchored by Isaac Parks-Gill, who went 6-for-6 on PAT attempts and drilled two field goals, to earn Centennial Conference Special Teams Player of the Week for the second week in a row.
  
Despite a late comeback attempt from Western Connecticut, Gettysburg's defense stood tall and got a turnover on downs thanks to Collin Morrow's pass deflection to end the scoring opportunity. Clark and the offense took the field and, after two knees, the Bullets notched their second win of the season, yielding at least a 2-1 record or better through the first three games for the first time since 2015.  
 
This Bullets team looks different. In a good way. Head coach Mike Green's first season is well underway and it is obvious there have been some changes to Gettysburg Football. Coach Green said "I think our guys are doing an awesome job picking up the standards that we've put into place."
 
For the Bullets to come back after last season's game against Western Connecticut – and Juniata for that matter – and get the wins is huge. For the Bullets, this is their first win since 2017 against a team not named Juniata or McDaniel. In many ways, this is a monumental win for the Bullets and a step in the right direction.
Bonato, following the Western Connecticut game said, "Everyone is bought in and the coaches really care about this team."
 
For many it was unclear what to expect from this year's Bullets. A new head coach, an entire new coaching staff and new players all had to come together. New leadership can sometimes be hard to adapt to. It can take time to settle in but this Bullets team is firing out of the gates.
 
Bonato also talked about outsider expectations of the team, saying they are entering a rebuilding period but Bonato says, "...we wanna win now."
 
Expectations so far may have been exceeded having already surpassed their previous seasons win total of one game. Despite a great start to the year, this team is still hungry. Clark speaks on behalf of the rest of the team when he says, "Vibes are good, but we are not settling for two, we got one win last year and two wins isn't good enough either."
