Notes: Returning all-conference performer specializing in the butterfly and freestyle events…Enters senior season ranked among the program’s top 10 in the 50 free (8th, 21.16), 100 free (8th, 45.86), 200 free (6th, 1:42.08), 200 IM (10th, 1:57.63), and 100 fly (5th, 51.08)…Father, Frank Nieves ’82, was a four-year member of the Gettysburg swimming team…Interned at the Inova Physical Therapy clinic and worked as a pool supervisor for the Mount Vernon Pool Company last summer.
2017-18: Earned All-Centennial Conference Honorable Mention with a runner-up showing in the 100 fly at the conference championship…Posted season-best times of 21.47 in the 50 free, 47.13 in the 100 free, 1:46.50 in the 200 free, and 51.08 in the 100 fly…Reached the consolation finals in the 50 free and 100 free at the CC Championship, finishing 13th and 14th, respectively…Helped the 200 free relay, 400 medley relay, 400 free relay, and 800 free relay win the consolation races and finish ninth overall at conferences…Took the top spot in the 100 fly in a meet with Messiah and Susquehanna…Finished fourth in the 100 free at the Gettysburg Invitational.
2016-17: Competed in seven events at the Centennial Conference Championships and came away with two golds, a silver, and a pair of bronze…Swam on the winning 200- and 400-freestyle relay teams, finished as the runner-up in the 100-freestyle, and took third in the 50-freestyle and 800-freestyle relay…In addition, placed fourth in the 200-freestyle and the 200-medley relay…Finished with personal season-best times of 21.16 in the 50-free, 45.86 in the 100-free, 1:42.08 in the 200-free, 2:05.87 in the 200-IM, and 56.19 in the 100-butterfly.
2015-2016: Competed in three individual events and three relays at the Centennial Conference Championships…Reached the “A” final in all three of his individual events, placing fifth in the 200-freestyle, sixth in the 100-freestyle, and sixth in the 200-IM…Earned three medals in the relays, swimming the second leg of the 400-freestyle squad that captured the conference title…Also anchored both the 400-medley and 800-freestyle relays that took the silver…Logged personal season-best times of 22.53 in the 50-freestyle, 46.93 in the 100-freestyle, 1:43.5 in the 200 freestyle, 1:57.63 in the 200-IM, and 54.62 in the 100-butterfly.
High School: Competed in swimming and cross country at Edison H.S.... An All-State, All-Conference, All-District and captain under Head Coach Mark Murray…Regional champion in the 100m free.
