For more than two decades, the Gettysburg men's lacrosse team has been one of the premier programs across the national collegiate sports scene. The Bullets have established a winning tradition that has amassed over 550 victories and earned 28Â bids to the NCAA Division III Tournament in the past three decades. Gettysburg has finished national runner-up three times and has made the semifinals on 11 occasions.
After patrolling the lacrosse sidelines for 39 years, including the last 34 at Gettysburg College, Head Coach Janczyk announced his retirement in 2021, leaving an incredible legacy that extended well beyond lacrosse fields and campus borders. During his time with the Bullets, he recorded 432 wins, 26 NCAA Division III playoff appearances, 11 national semifinal appearances, three trips to the national title game, and 19 Middle Atlantic Conference and Centennial Conference titles. Overall as a head coach, Janczyk finished with a career record of 477-150 (.761) and ranks second in NCAA history in total wins. He coached his student-athletes to 163 All-America awards and 199 All-Centennial Conference citations, including seven national players of the year and 13 conference players of the year.
Within the Centennial Conference, the Bullets have captured 15 championships in 28 years, including six consecutive titles from 2004 to 2009. Gettysburg leads the Centennial Conference with 97 first-team all-conference selections and 13 Player of the Year recipients.
Over 100 Bullets have garnered 172 All-America citations over the last 63 years, including a program-best 10 All-America honorees in 2008. Not only was 2007 graduate Pat Vaughn the school's only four-time All-American (2004-07), but he was also the starting goalkeeper for Ireland's national team.
