- What is the time commitment for cheering?
* As a squad, we practice every day for two hours. Once the season comes to an end, our practices get shorter as we learn all of the material. Saturdays, however, are game days, which require the full day - but definitely worth it!
- Am I allowed to participate in other clubs and sports during season?
* Because of our practice times, participating in other fall sports usually doesn't work out. However, almost every member of our squad is involved in many clubs and activities such as track team, sororities, student leadership positions, and so many more.
- Is tumbling mandatory to make the squad?
* No, tumbling is not required - but, it is a crowd favorite and definitely adds a lot of talent to the team.
- What do I need to do for try-outs?
* For try-outs, we arrive a week early for preseason. The first two days is new material and the end of the second day is the actual try-out. Try-outs require two jumps, one of which being a toe-touch, a dance that the captains will teach, a cheer, and stunting.
- I've never cheered before, can I still try-out?
* Definitely! Gettysburg cheerleading has had multiple members without experience make the squad. Everyone is welcome to try-out.
- Does the squad compete?
* Due to Gettysburg College's course load, the squad does not compete. We like our members to be on top of their school work, involved at Gettysburg College, and to do great in their classes. Although many people are only interested in the team to compete, not competing actually makes the squad fun, hard-working, yet dedicated and ready to support our school.
