The Gettysburg College strength and conditioning staff is committed to providing the highest level of athletic preparation for all student-athletes during their time at Gettysburg College.
Â
Our program has two goals:
1) Injury Prevention
2) Enhance Athletic Performance.Â
Â
From an All-American to all-conference or walk-on, every Gettysburg student-athlete is important and will be developed to their greatest athletic potential. The experience a student athlete has with our strength and conditioning programs and staff is part of their education and growth.
Â
Each of our varsity teams receive comprehensive support from the strength and conditioning staff. It is the goal of our staff to work closely with each head coach and our athletic training staff to implement the most effective year-round training program for each athletic team. In all of our endeavors, we are committed to the core values and principles of Gettysburg College.
Â
Â
TRAINING PHILOSOPHY
Â
It is the goal that all athletes be involved in a year round strength and conditioning program in order to prevent injury and enhance athletic performance by developing components of fitness and athletic performance related to their sport. Strength and conditioning programs are developed based on scientific principles of exercise and performance. Each program is designed to meet the needs of the sport and each individual athlete.
Â
Strength and conditioning coaches at Gettysburg utilize strength training, speed development, agility training, explosive training and Olympic lifts, metabolic training and mobility exercises as well as injury prevention & prehab exercises to allow our athletes to reach their full athletic potential.
Â
Athletes will be evaluated on a regular basis in areas of strength & conditioning relevant to their sport. These evaluations will allow the strength staff to develop and monitor strength & conditioning programs that are directed towards the needs of the sport and each individual athlete.Â
